Snacking in Animal Kingdom – Deliciously Unique

Magical Blograil Orange

Welcome to those of you joining me from  Disney with Babies, Toddlers, & Preschoolers and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 4th stop on our Magical Blogorail.

Jambo!

I am visiting Animal Kingdom searching for some delicious unique snacks.  At home I am the queen of snacking; I am so busy during the day that grabbing some quick snacks is the best way to keep my engine going.  When I’m in the parks my major go to snack is the Premium Mickey Ice Cream Bar, but I decided to go on the hunt for something a little more unique and just as delicious!

My first stop is in Discovery Island at Gardens Kiosk for a great snack to get my day started, Hummus with Vegetables.  Upon ordering my energy packed snack I discovered this kiosk is so much more than just a snack cart.  They offer a range of pre-packaged gluten-free snacks and to one up that, this kiosk can help you plan your next meal.  They offer information on allergy and other dietary needs within Animal Kingdom restaurants. I don’t have any food allergies but I can see what a great resource this food kiosk could be for someone that does.

Now it’s time to have some fun exploring Discovery Island before I stop for my next snack >>>>>>>

I am on the look out for another snack location so I’m off to visit Africa.   Before I wander onto Pangani Forest Exploration Trail I am in need of something a little sweet…. Ok a lot sweet!  Kusafiri Coffee Shop and Bakery looks like a perfect spot to find a sweet treat, in fact upon further inspection it looks to be a spot to find many sweet treats!  I am choosing the White Chocolate Elephant Cupcake; it is made of chocolate cake and topped with a sweet vanilla cream frosting. The frosting is topped with toasted coconut, adding another layer of flavor. In the center is a peanut-butter textured frosting and finally it’s topped with an edible white chocolate elephant that is almost too cute to eat!  If this doesn’t cure my sweet tooth I don’t know what will.  I am told this is also a great place to have a quick breakfast – maybe on your way to get on line for Kilimanjaro Safaris.

Great cupcake- great Exploration Trail and I’m on the hunt once again for another snack.  This time I think I would really prefer something on the cool side, so I’m going to stop here at Royal Anandapur Tea Company in Asia for a Frozen Chai.  This is a wonderful mix of sweet and spicy, it has small ice crystals mixed in with the tea and it sure hits the spot on this rather warm day at Animal Kingdom!

Well I think that wraps up our day of snacking at Animal Kingdom. I might just take a spin on Kali River Rapids before heading out.  Depending on how soaked I may get I might need to stop for a hot tea!

Hakuna Matata and keep on snacking!

That cupcake looks AMAZING! I’m not a huge fan of white chocolate though – but the rest of it sounds delicious. What I really want to try is that frozen chai! I think I’ll add that to my list for our next visit!

  2. Mike @ My Dreams of Disney says:

What a wide variety of snacks to choose from! I love some hummus so I might have to stop by and check it out! When you are at Animal Kingdom one of my favorite snacks — especially in the heat of a summer day — is one of the frozen fruit bars — oh my gosh, they are so good! Try one out next time you can, you won’t be sorry! Based on your selections today, though, do you think you know which one is your favorite? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Hi Mike 🙂 I love the frozen Fruit Bars too :)I think it would depend on my mood .. which is my fav… it’s terrible to say … but I just can’t get enough of those Mickey Bars.. but I wanted to show some more unique snacks that AK had to offer 😉

Those are great snacks! I’ve had a similar cupcake at Kusafiri but without the coconut- it looks delicious. Have you tried any of their other treats? They look great!

Great AK snack list! I’m a sucker for cupcakes so I will have to try that one. Royal Anandapur is always a must stop for me. I love their iced tea! Thanks for the Garden Kiosk suggestion too. Frozen bananas dipped in chocolate are my favorite AK snack. Have you ever tried one?

Great list! The Gardens Kiosk is a great resource for special diets information at AK. I knew they had packaged gluten-free snacks, but I didn’t know about the hummus and veggies. Thanks for sharing that – I’ll have to try it next time!

  6. DIStherapy says:

I’ll admit, we’ve not gone off the beaten path and tried any of these amazing snacks. Just looking at them is decadent!! BUT, I MUST tell my son about the Frozen Chai- that is right up his palm tree. Thanks for the tips and drools. 😀

Thank for stopping by Distherapy! I have a heard time veering off the path leading me to my next attraction as well… I learned a couple things myself in reviewing AK snacks 😉
