Memorial Day is an important holiday to America; it’s a day we set aside to honor the men and woman who have given their lives to protect our country and its freedom’s. It is one of the ways we show our gratitude to them and express our patriotism for our country.
Walt Disney was in no way short of American pride and patriotism. America was important to Walt; he believed in this country, its people and its future.
It was evident at a young age that he had a desire to serve his country in any way he could. While Walt never actually served in the armed services, he was a strong supporter of Americans in uniform, even as a teenager. World War I took place when Walt attended high school; he drew patriotic comics for his school newspaper. Those illustrations displayed his fervent support for the troops. He used his comics to suggest how to help sustain our country, like buying saving stamps or eating less so more food could be sent overseas for the troops.

His passion for America continued into his adulthood, not just in his personal life, but his professional one as well. During World War II, Walt created and produced nearly 68 hours of training, propaganda and documentary films for the US armed forces. “He and the studio went on to produce live-action films which also told classic American stories, such as”Johnny Tremain” and”Westward Ho!
