Do you have a dad who love’s to golf? Golfing at a Walt Disney World golf course can create magical memories for all dads. There are currently a total of four golf courses to choose from, two of which are Championship courses that have been played by many PGA professional such as,Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, and Luke Donald to name a few. These two courses coincided with the 1971 opening of the Magic Kingdom and bring in not only pros but novice golfers as well.
When I took my husband on his first Walt Disney World vacation, there was no doubt he was headed for the greens. He has played three different courses at the WDW resort, Disney’s Palm, Magnolia, and Osprey Ridge which is no longer open. Out of the three his favorite was the Magnolia course; he felt it was the more challenging of the courses, very scenic and each hole brought an exciting test of his abilities. He was excited to report back to the family that this course bragged of a large Mickey head bunker!
On his second visit to WDW he chose Disney’s Palm. He was enthusiastic to complete the duo course tournament held by Children’s Miracle Network Golf Classic, where many PGA professionals had played every fall. He enjoyed the fact that each hole featured a Kodak-sponsored history marker with a tournament fact on it, usually pertaining to that particular hole.
I asked my hubby if he had any stories he wanted to share for this blog post and to my delight he did. He recalled reaching the 17th hole at the Magnolia course. The ranger approached the tee box as he was driving by and mentioned how he had witnessed Tiger Woods cutting the corner of the water with his tee shot. My husband lined himself up and swung his club; as the ball was soaring through the air the ranger said to him, “Just like Tiger did.” Needless to say this was a major highlight of my husband’s day!
My hubby was more than pleased with his experiences at these two courses; he felt they were well maintained and the staff was excellent. During his booking they were offering a deal for free rental clubs. These were top of the line Titleist irons and woods, which he was more than pleased to play with. In his eyes, playing these courses was money well spent and he plans to return again one day!
